The climate and weather of MéxicoHow many times you have asked about what kind of clothes carry when you go traveling? Summer’s warmest months are April and May, when thermometers reach temperatures of up to 31º C, but not everything is sun in the Aztec capital, because there are sporadic storms, which do not pose a real threat if one takes precautionary measures, in July and August. Winter is between December and February with average temperatures of 20º C during the day; although it drops up to 0º C during the night. Tourist high season coincides with the dry season, from November to June; however, it is not foolish to visit Mexico City during the rainy season; because, although precipitations come in the form of torrential rain showers, they usually do not last long. During much of the Pre-Hispanic period, the valley of Tequisquiapan was more than just a village. The great Nahua and Chichimeca chieftains acknowledged the importance of the place. It is thought that Coyoacan was occupied 22 thousand years ago by nomad & hunters until the year 3,000 b.c. when there was no longer anything to hunt, so they turned to growing corn and raising turkeys, dogs and ducks.
Everyday life in Coyoacan evolves in complete harmony with its visitors. Suffice to say that Coyoacan played host to Leon Trotski, or that such celebrated people as Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, Celia Nutall and Salvador Novo all called Coyoacan home. Their presence can still be felt, not only in their former residences, but in the intense cultural life that pervades the atmosphere among the theaters, institutes and galleries. In Coyoacan can be found unique museums such as the Anahuacalli, created by Diego Rivera as his personal tribute to the pre-Hispanic world; the Culturas Populares Museum, a showcase for the lavish manifestations of the Mexican character, or the extraordinary Museo de las intervenciones, at Churubusco neighborhood.
