A 16th-century construction, the first and oldest “Mission of Towns”

In the villages of Nío and Pueblo Viejo, it is still possible to see the remains of the temples built by the Jesuits probably between 1758 and 1759.

A strong rise of the Sinaloa River affected the foundations of the Pueblo Viejo temple so severely that they almost collapsed, so the friars decided to move to El Nío, a small settlement where what may be the most beautiful ruins of the colonial era in Sinaloa struggle to remain standing: the remains of the old mission of San Ignacio de Loyola.

The ruins of the structure show great construction skill, since the work was made almost entirely of brick. Some remains of vaults, semicircular arches and a dome are still preserved.

MUNICIPAL MARKET Located in the city center, where in addition to finding fresh products from the countryside, you can enjoy the different typical dishes of the municipality.

PLAZUELA MIGUEL HIDALGO You cannot miss visiting Plazuela Miguel Hidalgo, which has a large wrought-iron bandstand in its center. If you like history, visit the Guasave Museum, La Casona, located in front of Plazuela Miguel Hidalgo.

SANCTUARY OF OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY In front of the Plazuela you can find the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Rosary with its majestic towers, as well as the fountains on the sanctuary esplanade.
