A traditional fishing town
Between Cancún and Playa del Carmen, Puerto Morelos offers a quieter setting without being far from the region's larger towns. Smaller hotels cluster around the main square, while larger all-inclusive resorts can be found outside the centre.
Views above and below the water
Beside the main beach, Ventana al Mar, the leaning lighthouse is one of the town's landmarks. Offshore, Puerto Morelos Reef National Park forms part of the Mesoamerican reef system.
The reef lies close to the coast, making boat journeys short. Snorkelling and diving reveal coral formations and marine life, while time in the town offers a gentler pace.
